Every September 5th, in honor of the Aymara leader Bartolina Sisa, we celebrate the International Day of Indigenous Women. At Great Trip World 🌎, we want to take this date to recognize the women who, generation after generation, have been the true guardians of the Andean identity that our travelers so admire.

Uros Islands
Uro-Aymara women lead a large part of the family economy on the floating islands: from the construction of totora reeds to welcoming visitors in their colorful traditional costumes.
Taquile Island
They lead the weaving workshops that welcome travelers from all over the world, sharing not only a technique but an entire Andean worldview.
Sacred Valley (Cusco)
In communities like Chinchero, the weavers have created self-managed textile centers that are now a mandatory stop on any route to Machu Picchu.
Gastronomy and Hospitality
